The suit argues that the chatbots were designed to mislead users, particularly minors, into believing they were interacting with a real person, or even a licensed mental health professional.

The very quality that makes the product so compelling—its human-like verisimilitude—is now the basis of a legal challenge. The product's success is its potential liability.
